The Secret Keeper is a true story about a few families including my family members who live and lived in Florida. It's about love, the unknown world of supernatural beings, drama, drugs, mental institutions, adultery, God, prison, domestic violence and so much more. The events included told range from around 1910 to 2014. Starting with the year of 2008; many unusual and interesting events happened that I could record, but all of the events are much too long to squeeze into just one book. This will be the first volume of many to come.
The events in this book will take you on a very long roller coaster ride. The best part about it is it's based on true events and they are our stories. Were my family members happy when they found out that I was about to embark on this great venture? NO. Some told me to my face and some called me on the phone to tell me of their displeasure about me writing this book, and that is why the names have been changed to "protect the innocent."
Many individuals prefer to hide behind a mask rather than to deal with their true emotions and problems. There will always be some type of disconnection when it comes to people and relationships. Some will separate themselves from you, because you do not agree with every word they say. Others won't have anything to do with you because you do not attend the same church they do. I don't feel like everyone should be the same.
We are all so different; that out of all the billions of people on planet earth not one of us has the same fingerprints. Yes, God made us just that different. If you had a thousand outfits all the same style, color and design, you could wear a different one every day, but only you would know you are changing into a new outfit daily. The person across the street is saying, "Man is she that poor that she only has one outfit?" But they don't know you are hung up on the same color, design and style. You may have more clothes than they do. It's called being different. I feel if two of us are identical, then one of us surely is not necessarily needed.
If I agree with every word that someone says just to be considered their friend. I will no longer be allowed to develop into an individual. An individual who is capable of thinking for and taking care of myself. If a person does all the thinking for me; what will happen to me when they die? I would be totally lost and in big trouble. I thought by now everyone would have realized in every family there are many imperfections, and you can't have perfect people in an imperfect world. Matthew 18:21 tells us, Peter asked the question, "How many times must I forgive my brother, unto seven times?" and Jesus replied "No, seventy times seven," which is four hundred and ninety times.
Yes, the same person is allowed almost five hundred chances according to Jesus' standards. We must learn to forgive. What others do may be wrong, but it is written that we must forgive anyway. I stand behind these events, because they are the real deal. Yes, the real "McCoy." My mother always told me never to be afraid when I knew I was telling the truth. So, here it is on a silver platter. The truth to me is really all that matters. L.O.L. (lot's of love) to all of my family members. May peace be your journey.
Some of the content in this book is presented in broken English also known as Ebonics to some. It shows how some African Americans talked during a time were very few people were educated. It keeps the integrity of the experiences mentioned throughout as the book as you read. As you conclude this book you will find a glossary of the broken English and traditional English words to help you understand the broken English aka Ebonics. You will be transformed into a time that most of us have no memory of or no knowledge of. This is an awesome opportunity to get a firsthand account of what some African Americans experienced over 100 years ago.
