John Galsworthy was a popular American writer. He was born in 1853. He attended a prestigeous school because his father wanted John to be a lawyer. That's why John entered the Oxford University. But some time later he told his father about his wish to become a writer. His literally career began at the age of seventeen when he studied at the Oxford University.

The Pigeon is a play. In Galsworthy's own words it is a fantasy. In fact it seems very real, because it shows that the best human material is crushed in the merciless mechanism our life . The main character is Christopher Wellwyn. He is an artist and he is deeply in sympathy with all human griefs and misfortunes. If people apply to him for help, he always does his best.
