Herman Melville (1819-1891) was an American sailor, novelist, writer of short stories, and poet.
"Omoo: A Narrative of Adventures in the South Seas" is the second book by Herman Melville, first published in London in 1847. Herman Melville continued his first South Sea narrative "Typee" with "Omoo". A main character was driven out of the board of British ship with several other sailor, after he initiated a riot, and left on the island of Nuku Hiva. The most part of the book is devoted to describing Tahiti and the neighboring islands, in this context Melville gives a first-person account of life filled with colorful characters and exciting adventures.
