Basil Valentine is the Anglicised version of Basilius Valentinus (aproximately 1565–1624). Basilius Valentinus was alleged to be a 15th-century alchemist. Valentine's true identity can't be known for sure, there is no evidence of such a name on the rolls in Germany or Rome and no mention of this name before 1600. Whoever he was, Basil Valentine had considerable chemical knowledge. He wrote and published a book called Haligraphia, in which he summarized all to-date knowledge of salt extraction and described some half-hundred salt mines and evaporation ponds in central Europe.
Triumphal chariot of Atimony is alchemical work by Basil Valentine. It stresses five basic principles of wisdom, their philosophical aspect and practical implementation. This work is great insight in the very essence of alchemy as a system of knowledge. If alchemy and medieval science is of any interest for you, than this tract is a must read.
