Webster defines Legion in part, as a band of soldiers and cavalry. In the Allagash they define Legion as a pack of savages on motorcycles.
U.S. Marshal Cain Rippinger and his buddy, FBI agent Dick Broberg, decide to vacation in Maine. Along the way they hear, but ignore, warnings about strange happenings where they plan to hunt--in the Allagash. This puts them on a collision course with a gang of French Canadian bikers determined to destroy anyone that enters their territory.
Gradually, their adventure escalates into a series of violent encounters, political surprises, and supernatural sightings. In the aftermath, the lawmen expose a corrupt H-2A Visa program and a pipeline of contraband geniusly concealed within elements of the timber industry.
Recalling large boot prints seemingly dropped from the sky, visions of mountain men, and a message written backwards in the snow, Rippinger wonders if he's being crowed by something otherworldly. He's restless for a change and a good love, but it is too late. He's in the crosshairs.
