«Aunt Mary's Suggestion» is an edifying story about the relations between a man and a child. During the whole story Mr. Belknap speaks to John Thomas in an authoritative cold and cough manner. There is no respect or obedience in him. Mr. Belknap does not understand what to do with Thomas and how to get his obedience.
