In 1641, an Irish rebellion broke out, led by Irish Catholic gentry who tried to seize control of the English administration in Ireland to force concessions for the Catholics living under English rule. The rebellion, however, developed into an ethnic conflict between native Irish Catholics on one side, and English and Scottish Protestant settlers on the other.
Amid the chaos, violence, bloodbath, and loss, we follow Irish siblings Patrick, Mary, and Cullen and their English foster siblings, James and Mary, as they try to escape the bloodshed of their land and carve a new life of their own in a new land.
America opens up new possibilities as well as new challenges: the land is beautiful, abundant, and fertile, but some inhabitants and settlers alike —Native Americans, Irish, Scottish, and English —are caught up in a web of intrigue, betrayal, lust, and passion, all of which threaten to destroy their fragile coexistence in the New World.
