There are many paths to God. In recognition of this fact the ancient seers of India described four broad disciplines, or Yogas, which are appropriate in different circumstances or with persons of various temperaments: the way of knowledge, the way of devotion to a personal deity, the way of works or ritual duty, and the way of psychophysical exercises (the popular Western meaning of “yoga”).
A “Fifth Yoga,” the way of human relations, is missing.
