A Resumed Identity

One night a man stood on the hill. The man looked curiously about him on all sides – he didn't saw any sign or suggestion of life except the barking of a distant dog, which, repeated with mechanical iteration. But since several minutes he saw the group of horseman who were riding through the road towards the North. They moved slowly and kept silence.
