The King's Minstrel

Rahere was a minstrel and jester in the court of Henry I of England. He fell seriously ill during a pilgrimage to Rome and had a vision of St Bartholomew, who told him to go back to London and build a hospital for the poor. This is the story of how Rahere came to build St Bartholomew's Hospital, which was finished in 1123. The hospital is still there and in use today.
