Lewis couldn't believe his ears. He was wrong to trust him after all. He'd wrapped him around his little finger. He easily worked his charm on him, lured him into a false sense of security and now he was going to have him arrested. But how could he? He hadn't done anything illegal. Had he? Lewis' mind raced. he had to think of something and fast.
"Look, Mr. Wentworth, we don't have to get the authorities involved here. I'll leave and you'll never hear from me again," his big brown eyes filled with tears. Facing litigation with a man like J.D. Wentworth would send his life into ruins that he would never be able to recover from.
"Mr. Davoe, may I remind you that you and I have entered a verbal contract. I offered you a position and you accepted. Your non-compliance now would place you in breech of said contract. If you choose to leave of your own volition, I'm in no position to stop you. However, I will encourage you to strongly reconsider before you walk out that door," Wentworth's expression was serious as he moved closer to Lewis, looking his square in the eyes. "Do you want to be a nobody for the rest of your life?"
Defeated, Lewis got up from the couch and did as he was told. He could no longer hold his tears. You only have yourself to blame for this, he told himself. He closed his eyes and took a deep breath, bracing himself for the worst. Sensing Wentworth's presence, moving about the room. Lewis continued to sob as he felt the rough friction of his wrists being bound by zip ties and secured to a coat hook, protruding from the wall.
