'Israel Potter: His Fifty Years of Exile' was initially published as a series in 'Putnam's Monthly'. The central figure of the story is Israel Potter who goes to fight in the American Revolution War. He rushes to a battle where he gets terribly wounded. But that doesn't stop him. On hearing the brilliant speech of George Washington -- the main American rebel, he goes on fighting.
