'The Curse of the Fires and of the Shadows' is a short story by William Yeats. The story reveals Yeats' mystical and religius perception of life with a strong touch of occultism. The abbey full of monks is attacked by a blood-thirsty puritan -- Sir Frederick Hamilton and his soldiers. The monks are on their knees and they are to be killed... butb some of the soldiers hesitate. All of the people there believe in the same God, but still there will be blood spilt.
