His Masterpiece

His Masterpiece by Emile Zola is the fourteenth novel in the Rougon-Macquart serious published in 1885. The main character painter Clauder Lantier desires to paint real subjects in real places, other way, outdoors. But his desire and motivation turns out to be the contrast to the artistic establishment, where artists painted in the room space and concentrated only on mythological, historical and religious subjects. Novel and its storyline describe the history of rejecting something new and unknown precisely due to public opinion and ideas. It is not a surprise for all of us.
