The Horror of Studley Grange

Dr. Clifford Halifax was the pen name for Dr. Edgar Beaumont. In the late 1800s, he worked with well-known author L.T. Meade to introduce many of his experiences into short story form with the readers of "The Strand Magazine". This magazine is still known for first publishing the now well-known stories about a character named Sherlock Holmes. The magazine was known for it's short stories, interesting articles and tons of illustrations.

This series is similar to James Herriot's "All Creatures, Great and Small", except the patients are people not animals.

In this particular story, the good doctor has a patient who has been seeing a freaky aberration every night. His wife believes that this "ghastly" sight is detrimental to his health. All the while, she herself really is dying. Halifax sees the ghost too and fearlessly approaches it to discover it's surprising source.
