The Minister's Wooing

The Minister's Wooing is a novel with historical shades by Harriet Beecher Stowe which was published in 1859. The novel's action set in 18th-century in New England and explores New England history, highlights the issues of slavery with critics of Calvinist theology in which Stowe was raised. The plot of the story is set in Newport, Rhode Island, which wasn't a place for wealthy ranks and that's the point of classic love story which as a usual is unrequited. Dr. Hopkins is 40-year-old minister falls in love with a young and pretty girl Mary. But unfortunately she is not interested in him and is fond of sailor presumed lost at sea, James.
