Newington Falls, Virginia. It isn't exactly new; and, there aren't any falls. Stories passed down from the founding fathers say that the town was originally just called Newington. That, no one could ever find it; so, when asked, people in the surrounding towns would say, "Newington falls just over yonder."
It's a place that could be anywhere. Or nowhere. Perhaps, both at the same time. It's a nice, small town. Pretty. Picturesque. Nothing really special about it. It's a place that no one ever sets out to visit, yet everyone always seems to end up in in the end. Residents have come and gone, yet no one ever really "leaves." Did the people in the town create the sickness that led the surrounding areas to begin calling them the "chronicals?" Or, is the town itself, beckoning people, bringing them in, and driving them mad?
The following collection is but a sample of some of the lives touched by the town. These stories, as well as ones that will follow in other collections and novels, are not told in any particular order. You'll sometimes see a name or a face you think you might recall, and you just might be right. In the end, I'd like to think we'll finally get to the bottom of everything, but I can only relate the stories that I hear, as I hear them.
