The Little Match Girl

One of Hans Christian Andersen's saddest but most popular fairy tales. It's a bitterly cold New Year's Eve night, and a barefoot, threadbare, barefoot little girl is selling matches on the snowy streets. Driven to desperation, she decides to strike one of her wares in an effort to fight off the freezing cold, and ignites a series of magical visions that she hopes will lead her to somewhere safe and warm.
