Many months later we learned how the main asteroid that hit the west coast was estimated at 11 miles wide. The crater it left was over 100 miles across and the air blast consumed everything in it’s path with winds of over 6,000 miles per hour. The survival precautions we had taken would have been useless had we been west of the Idaho, Nevada or Arizona borders.
