When we run to Jesus, He runs to us. His plan for humanity includes the free will to choose to seek the Lord or to ignore Him. When He notices we are headed His direction, He comes running our way. Jesus gets excited when we choose to follow Him.
We find many examples in Scripture that indicate the nature of God as He longs after the church, His bride. He stands at the door and knocks. If we let Him in, we enjoy sweet fellowship together.
“Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me” (Revelation 3:20).
In the story of the prodigal son, the father waited at home, longing for his son to return. As soon as he realized his son was headed his direction, the father ran to meet him and ordered the preparation of a feast. His son had come home!
“And he arose, and came to his father. But when he was yet a great way off, his father saw him, and had compassion, and ran, and fell on his neck, and kissed him” (Luke 15:20).
How do we run to Jesus? What do we do that gets His attention? Does He feel excited when He sees us coming?
