"The Tales of Mother Goose" is a tales collection, first published in 1697 and included the eight stories: Cinderella, Master Cat, Little Red Riding Hood, Tom Thumb, Diamonds and Toads, Riquet with the Tuft, Sleeping Beauty, Bluebeard. Actually, Charles Perrault raised the fairy tale to the rank of classic literature. The moralistic and didactic stories, deriding the human's flaws and glorifying the goodness, were written at a time when fairy tales were fashionable amongst aristocrats in Parisian literary salons. So it became popular and in a short space of time made Perrault known beyond the literary circles. Today the exciting stories about beautiful princes and princesses, fairies and wicked witches, castles and enchanted kingdoms remain popular among the children of whole world, and repeatedly have been adapted to operas, ballets, theatre actions and movies.
