Salvation

A future Earth with a population that had been reduced to a fraction of it's glory days by global warming, water shortage, food shortage and wars. A few generations later, the world has been rebuilt only to find that a black hole has doomed it. Soon after, a silent benefactor saved the human race by providing Earth with wormholes to new worlds. Humans meet an alien there who claims to represent the ancestors of mankind. Aliens saved humans from extinction and then offer them the gifts of super intelligence and virtual immortality. Will this lead to the extinction of humans?
