his book tells the true story of events that occurred over one hundred years ago on the Navajo reservation in the spectacular Four Corners area of the United States where Arizona, Utah, New Mexico and Colorado meet.
During the administration of Theodore Roosevelt, in the fall of 1908, two troops of U.S. Cavalry, marching under orders of the War Department, entered remote Shiprock in the Navajo Indian Reservation. From here they proceeded by moonlight up the San Juan River valley on the way to Aneth, Utah. Their mission was a pre-dawn raid to arrest a traditional Navajo Singer (a man who performed curing ceremonials) who was said by his Navajo enemies to be a witch. Trouble on the Navajo Reservation examines the events leading up to this incident and the dramatic times that followed.
