An Outpost of Progress is a brief story written in 1897 by Joseph Conrad, drawing on his own experience at Congo. The story may be considered as a short tragedy according to its storyline. The plot of the story consists of two European men who are assigned to a trading post in a remote part of the African Jungle. But they take part in ivory trading in order to solve their financial situation. By the end of the story they suffer and can't endure any more. And at the end of the story one of the main characters dies due to some circumstances. Usual death but very foolish and useless.
