EVAN HARRINGTON

Evan Harrington by George Meredith is novel with a glowing comedy of Victorian era presumptions. The central figure of the novel is an Evan Harrington, the son of the tailor, who has a huge desire to prove his character in upper-class society. He is a young man who accepts the responsibility of doing well for those he loves but the gesture on occasion works against his own interest.
