The Crippled Pelican is a story about a fishing trawler that mysteriously burns and sinks with women and children aboard off the Northeast Florida Coast. The lone survivor of the sunken vessel was the captain who's wife and children were aboard when the vessel went down. The Coast Guard claimed that the captain of the Crippled Pelican was insane and was responsible for the sinking of the Pelican and the deaths of those aboard. The captain of the Crippled Pelican was never seen or interviewed after his rescue with the government claiming the captain was hopelessly insane and dangerous to society. Ten years had passed since the Pelican's sinking when a woman entered a newspaper office in northern Florida claiming her husband was aboard the Coast Guard Cutter that rescued the Crippled Pelican's captain the day of its sinking. She claimed that her husband had told her just before he died two days earlier that the government lied about the captain of the Pelican. He said the captain wasn't insane when they rescued him and that something occurred fifty miles off the Florida Coast that the government never wanted disclosed. So began the quest of what really happened that day the Crippled Pelican went down. The turn of events that followed are both bizarre and frightening as to how close the world as we know it was to a catastrophic end.
