How the Wicked Tanuki Was Punished

There was a forest which was beloved by hunters. They killed all animals, but only three creatures were alive, and they had hidden themselves in the thickest part of the forest, high up the mountain. These were a tanuki, the fox which was his wife and their little son. Tanuki and the fox were clever and they also were skilled at magic. Despite their magic skills, they were poor and always hungry.
