Sons and Lovers

Sons and Lovers is a novel written in 1913. It is centered on the relationship of Gertrude Coppard, a daughter from burgher family, and a rough-hewn miner, Walter Morel. They fall in a romance driven by physical passion and marry each other. After the marriage Gertrude starts suffering from her husband's occasional violence.
