King Alfred and the Cakes

Once upon a time there was a wise and good king whose name was Alfred. But war came to his hands in face of fierce rude people of the Danes. The war lasted many years and unfortunately Alfred's army had to escape and the king fled along, in great haste, through the woods and swamps. Only after meeting a woodcutter and eating his wife's cakes he could gather a new army and beat the Danes in a great battle.
