Retired from house-painting and now strictly a writer, Gib Check's travel pieces and humor columns have appeared in the Wisconsin Rapids Daily Tribune and the Adams-Friendship Times-Reporter. In 2004, he graduated from UW-Stevens Point in with a Bachelor of Science degree in General Studies at the age of 62. These days, he resides with his wife Ruthie on a lake in north-central Wisconsin.
