"...for us physicists believe the separation between past, present, and future is only an illusion, although a convincing one."-Albert Einstein –
It may be an illusion but time is at the heart of our reality. That idea haunted me after listening to a science fiction time travel audio book on the road between Buffalo and Chicago. A germ of an idea percolated in my head, hypnotized by the rolling miles of the Interstate. I could create a fictional college physics class with an eccentric professor obsessed with cracking the illusion. Then I could interweave an adventure story with his lectures as my quirky professor solved the riddle of time as the saga reached its thrilling climax.

Sounded simple. All I needed was a beginning and an end with a scientific breakthrough in the middle. I was obsessed and started writing as soon as I arrived home with a first lecture and some odd episodes of my still undefined adventure story. A story line evolved as I studiously learned more and more about physics until my “breakthrough” materialized.

Continuum is done. It was hard to write (although I enjoyed every second of it) and probably not easy to read but it is the result of a decades-long effort to un-warp the illusion and create a new vision of human reality. It requires that you follow me through my education, learning the physics underlying our concept of time. You will travel through Newton's mechanical view of our world punctuated by a warning sign, the invisible mystical force dubbed gravity. Then into an intuitive presentation of Einstein's Relativity further exposing the intuition-busting reality we call the real world. Onward into quantum mechanics where reality becomes an illusion conjured within our minds..

All this while our plot thickens into a race against the forces of darkness. It won't be easy. You have a lot to think about.
