At the beginning of the Twentieth Century, an astrophysicist is struggling with his PhD and his lack of girlfriends. In the Eighteenth Century, a retired engineer is bemused by his mysterious new friend but happy to go along with his eccentric behaviour. In the Eleventh Century, a young girl is indentured to a drunk and abusive master. And 800 years BC, the sidekick of an Old Testament prophet discovers that there's more to his master than being good at public speaking. They are all connected by some strange lights in the sky and by a particularly fine pub in Kilburn, North London, to witness the end of the world, Armageddon, the final war, though not necessarily all at the same instance depending, of course, on how you define time and whether or not you believe it can go sideways as well as up and down.
