The Death of a Bookie

Who killed the bookie?
Was it his wife, Helen, who arranged the murder to avoid messy divorce proceedings? Or was it “Black Jack” Tony Padilla, a Mafia head, who ordered the hit because he’d caught the bookie skimming money from the ‘family’ operations? Apparently, someone is not happy to see Jacob investigating the case. So he finds his tires slashed with a threatening note attached. When this fails, several attempts on his life are made to scare him off.
But Jacob, an ex-marine, does not frighten easily.
And so he continues his investigation more determined than ever to solve the case.
Unfortunately, matters grow in complexity as more dead bodies keep popping up, and as he keeps digging Jacob uncovers a plot that threatens the security of the nation, itself.
Jacob is fortunate to have a strong liaison with Lieutenant Jones of the LAPD and Agent Trickten of the FBI. Will such connections help him when he comes face to face with the mob?
