There was a stray cat who would come around looking for food, water, and eventually affection. I felt so bad for this poor cat. His face was scratched up from fights with other animals and life on the streets. He was obviously ill and quite skinny. He didn't belong to anybody and I'm sure he lead a very lonely life. I had a cat at the time or else I would've taken him in. Even then, I don't think he was long for this world. I wrote this poem because I want him to know, wherever he is, that his life mattered.
