Debut Indie author, Roger Remy Franseska brings you his first – Loping Strides of Burgundy, a satirical, thought-provoking novella about a single man’s journey as he undertakes the very concept of falling in love, risking and even settling.
Joe Burgundy is an independent, hedonistic and successful 31-year old journalist who works for giant sports media company, Futballer under the infamous Karl Schroeder’s authoritarian rule. On the night of being promoted, Joe decides to celebrate his travail, alone at a newly opened bar where he meets Lilly, a unpredictable gypsy lady that causes a significant glitch and tends to change Joe’s life as he knew it.
Two months ago, a young woman had been abducted in Kent, a town a few miles outside Walbury. Now, in Lintontown, Joe’s hometown, a girl-child has been reported “taken” in exchange for large amounts of money – the deal had went wrong and the girl managed to escape, with a pretty red rose entangled in her hair – though the perpetrators were never caught. Predicting another scandal in the London region areas, the press in the city of London are concerned that the, as coined “Rose Snatcher” might be roaming the jolly streets of London in search of his rose’s next victim, and a paycheck.
Joe Burgundy is somehow linked to the abductions, in ways unforeseen. When Joe’s love and life’s vulnerabilities are exposed to immediate peril, will Joe choose love, his own life or the corporate status he enjoys with Schroeder at Futballer? Only Lilly knows.
