Boston Corbett is known primarily as the Union cavalry sergeant who shot and killed Abraham Lincoln's assassin John Wilkes Booth. The slayer of the President was tracked into a barn on the farm of Richard Garrett across the Rappahannock River in Virginia. Corbett stuck his musket in a crack of the barn and shot Booth, committing a violation of orders from his superiors. For years after this the soldier was shunned by the majority of people. Government positions were denied to him, ones that he believed he deserved to have. My book looks at Boston Corbett from his early years to the last part of his life which is very obscure.
