Zen Brown, a young man of 28, returns home to Christchurch, New Zealand, after 4 years of the 'good life' in Europe and the U.K. But it not the home town he remembers. The city is now in rebuild mode, after the devastating earthquakes of 2010 and 2011. It has become a place of noise, giant cranes, demolition and dust. It is also a place of unemployment. Despite having a Masters degree in Science, Zen finds it difficult to find work. He is about to leave his home town forever when he meets Nadia and falls head over heels in love. But their happiness is short-lived. They have only known each other a few months before Nadia's naked body is found in a city dumpster.
Zen sets out to find her killer. But he quickly discovers investigating a murder is not something for amateurs, and his attempt at detective has put his own life in danger ...
