When Stella Sky stumbles across a magic mirror hidden in the back corner of a cluttered boathouse, her family vacation to a lake cottage in the North Woods takes a strange and unexpected turn. Soon after, Stella, her pet ferret Freddy and her new friend George Thistlebaum find themselves out on the lake in a storm that blows their boat off course and leaves them marooned many miles from the cottage.
