A science fiction novel, about a world called Phaeton headed for destruction, presumably due to its own decadence (which is why one chapter is tainted with a hint of erotica), bringing about astronomical events, which modern science has already postulated, when Jupiter and Saturn swapped orbits, which in the story, will bring about the planets demise, turning it into an asteroid belt orbiting our sun, leaving its satellite, to make its own orbit, and becoming Mars, a planet in its own right.
Uses many other hypothesis etc., as part of the storyline, to justify the artifacts found on our planet, in geological layers, where, according to modern science accepted theories, no indication of civilization should exist, but does.
Also contains fictional belief systems, rituals and ceremonies, to complement the story line.
Has interesting and controversial speculations in the Afterword, and presents questions for the reader to answer for themselves.
