A collection of wartime service reminiscences written by my late father. They are of a lighter nature, if war can ever be portrayed in that way, as he never saw direct action. However I thought these experiences may be of interest to some as they deal with his personal experiences and the minutiae of UK service life in the 1940s. It will be apparent from the content that, despite everything going on in the world at the time, my father managed to maintain a sense of humour which carried through into the rest of his life. An example of this appears in the title: an 'erk' is, apparently, slang for a non-commissioned RAF officer of the lowest rank!
