Who is The Christ

Who is the Christ. Christ is a name used by people in reverence, or as a curse, depending on who is using it. Seeming impossible that the name Christ should be taken both reverently, or shunned and cursed. Who is this man, that his name reaches such a wide range, reaching both ends of the spectrum. Why has this person caused such a division of people, some blessing, others cursing.
