About Half A Century

As well as writing drama and children's drama, Kate Lyons wrote poetry throughout her life, drawing inspiration from her family and her social milieu. Though occasional works appeared in magazines, no anthology was ever published. Already in her seventies, in 1996, she published a limited edition of verses spanning half a century for distribution amongst friends and family. Two decades later, they remain as fresh and enjoyable, so we are pleased to bring them to a wider readership. Her reflections range over whimsical, romantic and cerebral aspects of life, occasionally verging on a rant, but are always delicately structured in satisfying verse. So, here they are: about 50 poems, about 50 years - about time!
