The Nexus is the last haven of magick, located between Death and the Afterlife, but has been sealed off to most of the living. There are those that would prefer it to stay sealed, but every Samhain is when this realm is thinnest and most accessible to the living.

When Max Dane, an eleven-year-old boy turning twelve on Samhain, now known as Halloween, moves to Ravencrest, Vermont he is launched into a journey of self-discovery through mystical and spiritual practices like drumming, fire ceremonies and tarot, which he may regret as he faces a fierce entity known as the Knightmare and begins Unlocking the Nexus.

The first book in the series takes place in the fall and subsequent novels to take place in winter, spring, and summer focusing on those corresponding holidays and inspired by Celtic, Norse, and Native American mythology.
