Ready Reference Treatise: The Devil and Tom Walker

“The Devil and Tom Walker” by Washington Irving was first published in 1824. The story was published in a collection of stories called “Tales of a Traveller.” It is generally said that the present story is quite similar to the story of the ancient Germen legend of Faust.
It is said that the tale “The Devil and Daniel Webster” was highly inspired by “The Devil and Tom Walker.”

Although it is very widely read and popular story, it is not as famous as the other stories written by the author. Some of his other famous works include “Rip Van Winkle” and “The Legend of Sleepy Hollow.”
