A largely artistic piece, "Miles To Go Before We Sleep" is a collection of vignettes following the lives of two post-apocalyptic wanderers--Geoff Davis, a defective soldier in a nonexistent war, and Mercer Grey, a renounced cannibal hoping to bury the remains of his old identity. For those that stalk the ruins of the American wasteland, lives are short--and they are volatile, honest, and all-consuming. However, when a rapid turn of events forces them to settle down, the two of them are tired, battle-weary, and struggling with the nuances of civilization. Their lives were brutal and the only things they ever knew, and pasts are a difficult thing to leave behind...
