Terrance is indulging in his birthday celebrations with several of Blue Moon House's whores. His father, in another room, passes away suddenly, resulting in a fire raging through the whorehouse. The vampires of the house, Sophia, Lynn and Nicholas, bolt to avoid their own destruction. Terrance, after dragging his father from the burning house, finds he is the only john still with the homeless whores. He invites the group into his home. The vampires set to finding new houses and places for their whores. In the process, Terrance discovers that his father's favorite, Kate, is deeply indebted and unwilling to continue as a whore. He also learns that the vampires do not intend to re-establish Blue Moon House in London. He finds a solution for all, including himself and his sudden inheritance, by taking the group to America aboard a ship filled with resources his father had purchased in order to turn over a relatively quick profit.
The voyage is long and fraught with difficulties. Kate is severely seasick, making her an ill-suited choice for the vampires to feed on. Terrance is often kept in their company and drained of blood to dangerous results. In addition, although he has entertained the fantasy of pleasing more than one woman, he is not accustomed to sex with men, something Nicholas gently introduces him to over the trip.
Once on solid ground again, Terrance sets to making himself part of the community by investing in building projects, including the construction of a new house for the vampires. Sophia and Lynn each accompany him, as both an opportunity to field new clients and to draw the attention of both men and women at the gatherings to Terrance. It is one such night where he is propositioned by another man's wife, which Terrance then shares with another man, also not her husband, only to have her husband enter, watch and appraise their progress and claiming his wife again at the end.
Kate joins him several times as well, dressed nearly as finely as any of the other ladies. She is slow to realize that no one in America knows she was a whore, and it isn't long before a man endeavors to steal her away from Terrance. She leaves on the road to a good name and good life.
Blue Moon House, as we've come to know it in the other prequels, is just a frame when Nicholas and Terrance pretend to choose rooms and end up together in one, the darkness covering their lovemaking. Finally, the vampires tour the completed house, and Terrance learns that they mean to keep him by turning him into one their own.
