The Chains

This story takes place on plantation in Georgia, America’s Deep South. An Englishman is confronted with realities of the slavery system. He cannot comprehend the cruelty of such life as he is exposed to the ruthless treatment of African slaves. At the same time he is enchanted with the beauty, strength, and bravery of the enslaved race. His outlook on life undergoes a drastic change, his ideas of evil and good take on new meanings.
