Running on Empty: A Casual Encounters Short Story

Melinda's had a bad day. Her boyfriend broke up with her and she is stranded in a car without gas or a means to pay. Brian, a complete stranger, comes to her rescue. He buys her gas and puts her up in a hotel for a few days so that she can get herself presentable before going home to ask her parents to take her back in. Grateful for Brian's generosity, Melinda decides that it's time to turn over a new leaf...she's going to live for herself from here on out. She starts her new chapter by giving Brian the best "thank you" he could ever imagine.
