Sacred Vows tries to delve into the human experience of love and heartache. James is an impressionable young man who falls in love with a girl who is sick with heart disease. Ariela, the girl, leaves their hometown and unexpectedly comes back. James, after his high school graduation, entered the seminary. Ariela looks for him but gets shattered when she learns that he is now a priest.
