Susan is an older coworker of Joe's. She took pity on his lack of social skills & befriended him. Susan thinks of Joe as a young good looking guy & finds his awkwardness endearing. She doesn't realize the depth of Joe's numbing social phobia until a random event exposes it to her & she learns that Joe really cares about her as much more than an older & wiser confidant he depends on for support.
